Hastelloy C-276 Pipe — Product Introduction
What Is Hastelloy C-276 Pipe?
Hastelloy C-276 (UNS N10276) is a tungsten-containing nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy widely regarded as one of the most versatile corrosion-resistant materials available. Hastelloy C-276 pipe is manufactured from this alloy and is specifically designed for use in the most demanding corrosive environments across chemical processing, oil & gas, marine, environmental engineering, and power generation industries.
With over 50 years of proven field performance, C-276 has become the go-to material when standard stainless steels and lower-grade nickel alloys fall short.
- Outstanding Corrosion Resistance — Performs exceptionally well in both oxidizing and reducing media, including sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, phosphoric acid, wet chlorine gas, hypochlorite, and chloride-containing solutions.
- Superior Pitting & Crevice Corrosion Resistance — With a PREN (Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number) typically above 65, C-276 far exceeds conventional duplex stainless steels and austenitic alloys like 316L.
- Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC) Immunity — Highly resistant to chloride-induced SCC, a common failure mode for austenitic stainless steels.
- Excellent Weldability — Ultra-low carbon (≤0.01%) and silicon (≤0.08%) content minimizes carbide precipitation in the heat-affected zone. Welds can be used directly without post-weld heat treatment.
- Good Formability — Ductile and easy to form, with elongation ≥40%, allowing fabrication into complex piping configurations.
- High-Temperature Strength — Maintains yield strength above 300 MPa even at elevated temperatures (400–700°C).
